Technology is a constantly changing field. In this session, we’ll explore ways to connect emerging and changing technology to your team’s daily goals and their work with students. We’ll help you create professional development for digital learning that allows staff to learn new material, practice skills and reflect on experiences. You’ll leave this session with an understanding of key digital learning competencies, a plan for capitalizing on existing staff expertise and experiences to build professional development and strategies to incorporate digital learning into your hiring processes.

Promote Digital Learning in Afterschool

Implementing digital learning in meaningful ways requires the support and effort of all of your stakeholders. In this session, you will learn how to create a communication plan in order to promote and to gain support for digital learning in your afterschool program. In addition, you will practice creating or improving your messaging about digital learning in your program and learn to tailor your message to varied audiences.

During this webinar you will learn about the digital divide, which describes the socio-economic disparities that arise from lack of access to digital resources and learning and how lack of equity impacts young people’s future outcomes. You will leave with steps you can implement immediately to bring digital learning equity to your school and program with help from strategies provided by the Afterschool Tech Toolkit, made possible by support from Google for Education.

Meaningful digital learning is a critical component in preparing young people for civic, academic and post-secondary participation in the 21st century. Yet, there are wide disparities in digital access between young people from lower-income communities and their higher income peers. Join us for a lively panel discussion to learn about the importance of digital learning in increasing educational opportunities for young people and how afterschool programs can play a key role in increasing digital access and use.
You will also be introduced to an exciting new tool, the Afterschool Tech Toolkit, to assist you in starting, expanding, and/or deepening digital learning in your program. The Afterschool Tech Toolkit is made possible by support from Google.
