Bridging the Gap Between Research and Practice

When the Robert Bowne Foundation closed its doors on December 31, 2015, it was important to the board and staff members to share the lessons they had learned as a result of their 25 years of work with practitioners, organizations and other funders interested in building the capacity of out-of-school time (OST) programs.

So, they funded the Center for Sustainable Journalism to publish the Youth Today OST Hub.

Incorporating the Foundation's philosophy of positive youth development, the importance of reflection and inquiry, and a deep respect for youth workers as experts, the OST Hub reflects the Foundation's belief in the importance of building bridges between research and practice.

The OST Hub focuses on topics that address relevant and critical issues in the OST field, including program quality, language and literacy, youth leadership, career and technology education, health and more. Each topic offers free and downloadable articles, research, curricula and other program materials grounded in practice for in-depth exploration and learning.

The OST Hub will continue to expand its topics based on input from the OST field. Access materials to help bridge the gap between research and practice at www.youthtoday.org/hub.
