The Walking Classroom Institute
The Walking Classroom is a national award-winning education program that provides students and teachers with an innovative way to get exercise without sacrificing instructional time. The nonprofit program’s “Walk, Listen, and Learn” methodology capitalizes on the favorable link between exercise and cognitive function. Students listen to 15-minute, kid-friendly, educational podcasts on pre-loaded MP3 players called WalkKits, while walking briskly—they walk, listen, and learn!
Each WalkKit contains more than 100 pre-loaded podcasts and can be shared among classes and reused year after year. Podcast topics align with 4th and 5th grade Common Core, but the topics are appropriate for students in grades 3 through 8. Available Discussion Guides provide a synopsis of each podcast along with discussion questions. The program is simple to implement, but complimentary online training and professional development is also available.
The Walking Classroom is easy-to-use, engaging, and gets kids moving!
